Homeschool camp

What a wonderful event. Each year Whangarei Home Educators Support Group - WHESG hold a camp. Its moved around a little but mostly beside the beach...cause there is just so much to do.
UNO...oh just the best game for little ones and big ones.
There was hours of running and playing tag or spot light, horse riding and beach going...bridge jumping and laughing. DS5 was a bit blown away by all the kids but he soon found himself running round with the rest of the gang and really looking relaxed about the environment.
This was just a short walk to the shop to get an ice cream. It turned into a long while at the beach
DD8 takes the plunge
DD8 cheered on
Swing ball was a bit of a favourite of DS5

DD8 and DS5 were so torn between staying at camp or heading back home to circus school.
Camp won out as soon as the circus equipment came out.

All time best activity is bridge jumping

Mental notes for next time...bring Daddy, stay longer and take better food!

The endless field trip day

We were heading to Auckland to the dentist. When doing something like that I like to make a fun stop too.
My mum was also coming into Auckland from Thailand....and her plan was late and late and really late...so we had to keep extending the day.

Fish market was great.
DS5 got to see a flounder which the cat sole from the fishmonger in his latest book.
We got to see eels...just like they caught with grandpa.
They were totally amazed by crayfish and spent 10mins watching the live swim around...this followed on into the wearable arts show we saw later at the museum...they were very excited to see the outfit.

The water front gave us hours of fun.
The container with books and piano were interesting to...Dd8 wants to bring down some old books next dentist visit.

Water play...oh every child's dream
DD8 was so excited to see this 'sky bridge'...it's just like I made in minecraft...let's go and see!
Totally loved it!

This matches our social studies know your place and 'our tree'
Lots in the news at the moment so not their greatest love...

So we were stuck in Auckland late with two tired kids playing games on their iPads...had to laugh as they started playing 'scratch' computer club...and maths fish.

Beach - feeding the birds

When we got to the beach the children observed a funny little "play".
Two birds stealing a mussel off of each other. They we're not impressed that the bird who was stolen off of didn't go get his mussel back.
So they found 'him' a new one...broke it open and feed it.
Now the bird is well fed.
Exploring
Ds5 watching water in sunlight...he related it back to the light show in the art gallery we went to.

Home Ed field trip to start the year

We love the beach gatherings we have. All of our kids are happy in the water luckily most of them are almost to the point where we can watch from the dry.

Parents keep to the shade and less sand but very close to see what our kids are up to
The littles are playing it safe in the shade where we can see them.

The bigger kids head out with their boards

But soon realise that jumping is far better than boards. Thanks Diana for a wonderful photo xxx

Auckland art gallery light show

Your never sure how the kids are going to be on a field trip
This is pretty cool.
We couldn't take any photos in the exhibition but the kids loved it.
One room was an optical illusion which was kind of lost on the kids cause they couldn't touch it feel it experience so there for how was it not real.

An expihibet of fireworks like lights captivated ds5 and he was really wanting to know how to make it. He's keen for his next computer club meeting as he has lots of ideas and questions.

Then we've moved onto a Lego exhibition
Of course Ds5 is the only one who made Minecraft characters Zombi and Enermen.
Sign!
 Nanma is into helping out

But Mum how do they get yellow if they only have three lights and one of them is not yellow. DD8 pondering art and light.

Followed up by lunch in the park...looking at all the old trees and how they have moved the pavement.

End of year 2014 field trip to the caves

Our local Caves have always been a great place to play. Over new years the old playcentre group all gather for lots of fun in the sun, but during the year the Home Educators love to hang out.
Towards the end of DD's Grade 3 Oak Meadow we were often asked to study caves and the animals we might find it them. To look at the rock types and formations.

We have a wonderful group of H/Ed here.

This photo is as we are coming out of main cave. We didn't go far or get wet. Just an experience for some but not pushing it too far...wouldn't want to put them off.

Love the sun and green fields to play soccer in. This is the GAME for most of the H/Ed kids and our two are included. They all get together and really help out.
