Rain for May

After cleaning out the old tank we've had connected to the garage we've had to make do without any water over there.

Mr Griffin does not like the rain he's an outdoor cat most of the time.

But all good for us to fill up our tanks. I've been listening to the water fall in the tanks all night...the tanks are right behind out bedroom.

Health project

I've been wanting to do a health project for a long time. DD9 has been very accident prone over the last few months. Smashed teeth, cut thumb needing glue, cut to foot needing a lot of care and having to keep the foot elevated for a week or so.

Also we've really been looking at food intolerance and what is good for you. DS5 has taken himself off of dairy and I'm gluten free.

So we've started with a body shape outline and we'll go from there.

DD9 had to remember dei last Friday what she was wearing and get the right colours.

DS5 had to draw his own stick figure up the top.

Very grumpy with a cold...so not really into much today.

DD9 decided to draw her plate rather than find things in magazines to cut out.

Toadstool

The question was how fast does a toadstool grow?

DD9 came up with the idea of photographing them often/everyday to see the change

Creeper face

Ds5 is very into computers and loves his computer club...he's working on Gamestar mechanics here remotely  ... Getting excited and frustrated in one. It doesn't help that he's got a cold and temp and not thinking well...but suggest it's ok to leave class and have a sleep ..oh no!

We also got some post the other day so there was a bit of a fight over the box and what it was going to become.

DS5 won with his idea of a Creeper Face. This was the first time DS5 has ever googled anything on his own too. He opened up the computer and started sounding out the words...C R EEEE P ER ...got a little stuck on face but he managed it and chose his own picture to copy propped the computer up on the table and got out his own paints.

I know it looks like big nostrils but thats really where his eyes are

April catch up

Lizard day

First day back and we are right into it.
We joined in the group and listened to a lady talk about Reptiles.
Was very cool!

DD9 is very inspired with this type of thing. She just loves animals...mostly birds.

 Totally fascinated with the turtles turning over

 A blue tonged lizard...this really made my skin crawl.

 Before the class the kids were collecting snails out in the garden. They had a small sandcastle bucket half full of them...and then they fed them to the lizards.

DS5 was right with me in not wanting to touch them and kept right out of the 

Free day

We've been slowly coming back from our South Island trip and trying to keep the atmosphere. 

We've cut back the minecraft and it's been interesting to see the changes.

While on holiday the kids spent as much time outside as possible when ever we stopped the van. They loved watching the Weka and exploring the different bush.

DS5 has been enjoying castle block smash every morning. We all build castles out of blocks then grab some rubber balls and throw...smash! We've got some Lego people which still have to be standing at the end of the round before any points.

While on holiday they enjoyed a game of throwing hoops which I think we should get at home.

Then out came the marble run. This has been a hot one which is still all out over the floor this morning.

DS5 wanted to know how many marbles he had...

Seeing how many different ways you can put them together.

DD9 has been very interested in writing a book. We've has a few attempts but never really finished. Now she's looking at typing on the computer and things are going really well. 

We'll look at getting it printed just to keep her engaged.

DD5 really wanted to do an experiment so he asked if he could use the old ice cream we never eat.

This is new for DS5 he's never really been into thinking up ideas for himself to do. Very excited.

Very grouse too...tomatoe, fegoia and some hot water. Taste, smell and touch..= yuck!

I came back from sorting the washing out the other day and they had pulled out the music. Was pretty.

Back to our normal Friday. Circus swimming and shopping.
